2 Galaxies M31 and M33

by Chris on Oct.18, 2009, under Uncategorized

2 Galaxies from last night my best shot at M31 yet, this is less than 1/2 the size of the original photo, it is one huge Galaxy

And M33 the Pinwheel or Triangulum, quite a noisy photo but you can see star forming regions (nebulae) within this distant galaxy ( arrows point to them they look only like red blobs from this distance but there is some structure)

The Veil Nebula Complex

by Chris on Jun.28, 2009, under Uncategorized

The remnants of a Supernova that occured 10,000 years ago and is 2000 light years away

The original image is over 2m in diameter so much of the detail has been lost in this presentation I’m afraid

This segment is referred to as the Witches Broom

Modded 350d 3 hours of 7 minute subs

This is my first go at combining photos, these two nebulae are huge and sit within Cygnus the swan.

To the left is the North American Nebula which looks like the continent and to the right is the Pelican ( its beak extends to the left )
